Synopsis
PIGEON WITHIN was made over a period of two years. The artwork combines Xeroxed photographs with drawn and animated figures: this in order to juxtapose ideas of present reality with remembered, envisioned or emotional truths. This short animated film depicts a woman's journey home: from dark tunnels of doubt, through an encounter with her guardian angel (or was it?) to the fun of slapping Park Avenue canopies in the wee hours.
About the director
Emily has been making short personal animated films since 1980. She has created work for television, for independent documentaries and recently for the feature, Hedwig and the Angry Inch (2001), directed by John Cameron Mitchell. She received a 2000 NJSCA Fellowship and lives with her family in Maplewood, NJ.
