Synopsis
The short documentary explores Dopo Yume, a NYC-based rock band that gained traction in the late 90s, early 00s, but never quite took flight. Told through home videos and present day narration from the band’s lead singer, we experience his memories of the highs and lows, the friendships and community that formed around the music and the role that fate and tragedy played.
About the director
"DOPO YUMEmories" is Jordan Galland's first documentary film. He has written and directed 3 narrative films. His first film, ROSENCRANTZ & GUILDENSTERN ARE UNDEAD (2010) premiered at Slamdance Film Festival, released theatrically by Indican Pictures. His second film ALTER EGOS (2012) premiered at Fantasia Film Festival, released by Kevin Smith’s Smodcast label through eOne. His third feature AVA’S POSSESSIONS (2016) premiered at SXSW, released theatrically through Orion Pictures worldwide, overdubbed in multiple languages. He has also directed commercials and music videos. As a musician and songwriter, Galland has released several albums of his own and has collaborated on projects with Mark Ronson, Fischerspooner, Daniel Merriweather, Cibo Matto and Sean Lennon, and contributed music to films and TV shows like Lena Dunham’s TINY FURNITURE (2010) and the Neistat Brothers’ HBO Original Series, as well an original score for the award winning SUPPORTING CHARACTERS (2012).
