About the director
Jonathan Antoine studied cinema at Capilano University in Vancouver. At the end of the program he took the Cinematography certificate and has been working ever since. Jonathan directed a short documentary called “Trapline” which was selected at the LA Skins Film Festival located in Los Angeles.
Jonathan went back home to Łı́ı́dlı̨ı̨ Kų́ę́/Fort Simpson to make documentaries and short films about his people and his family.
Jonathan made Dene Drum Songs in Gahnı̨ hthah for the love of the Dene Drum that is very special to the people of the Dene. The Drum represents the heartbeat of the human spirit. The Dene is very connected to the land and to mother earth. This documentary is about that connection to the Drum. Jonathan’s next short documentary is called “Dene on the Land” which will be coming out this summer.
