About the director
Born and raised in the midwest, Anthony Nicolau has spent over a decade living and working as a filmmaker in Brooklyn, NY. He has written, produced, and directed award-winning films that have screened in festivals both nationally and internationally. His short film “The Night Owl” was selected as part of Sundance's “Short Film Connection” and his last short film “Corners“ gave him the opportunity to work with the late, great Lynn Cohen (Munich, Sex & the City) and also Aida Turturro (The Sopranos). He is currently developing his first feature film.
Filmmaker's note
As a fimmamker, I'm drawn to characters that seemingly vanish within the fabric of society. With 'Push to Enter' I wanted to explore the invisible struggles of those we might only encounter briefly and examine how mounting pressures could force someone to grapple with their own morality. I employed a 4:3 aspect ratio to evoke a sense of intimacy akin to a portrait, aiming to remind the audience of the fine line between hope and despair, and the bonding power of empathy in overcoming our individual challenges.
