About the director
C.Haines (pronounced chains) is a twisted, darkly comedic writer and director and soon to be household name. C.Haines is inspired by the likes of Raymond Carver, Tom Robbins, Agnès Varda, Bong Joon Ho, Bertrand Tavernier, The Coens, Juzo Itami, and John Prine, to name a few, in creating complex characters that would otherwise be swallowed up in the belly of the beast; characters grounded in his personal experience of growing up in the fringes of rural Northern California.
He hopes to use BreadWinners as a launch pad to other projects of a similar vein. Projects that cut to the core of some of our society's most pressing issues with a sharp sense of satire and gallows humor not for the faint of heart.
Finally, in regards to the mask, C.Haines wears a mirror mask to all public appearances. Cinema is a mirror. Everything in our lives, leading up to the moment we sit down in the theater for the feature presentation, determines the way we interpret the images in front of us, our lives a reflection on the silver screen. Each viewing experience unique to the individual. And the director is the one holding up that mirror, or in this case, wearing it.
All that said, privacy in the digital age is hard to come by... and who doesn't love a good mystery?
