About the director
Annika Horne (she/her) is a filmmaker, screenwriter and recent graduate of the University of Texas at Austin. Her film, FLYING IN THE DARK depicts stories of women in aviation from World War II to the present. This film premiered at the Austin Film Festival. It was funded by the Austin Film Society and the University of Texas. Her script based on the same history advanced as a Second Rounder in the esteemed AFF Script Competition in 2022.
Annika's previous films have focused on women's history and screened at the Dallas Sight of Sound Film Festival, the Austin Under the Stars Film Festival, the Trinity Film Festival and more. Annika was a producer on BROKEN HEARTS CLUB, which was an official selection of Slamdance 2022. Annika acts and performs standup comedy. She won a Young Artist Award for a guest starring role on the Lifetime series Army Wives and recently appeared in the New Talent Showcase at the Gotham Comedy Club.
