Synopsis

In the summer, the "Grands Shows Mécaniques" organized by the Bastien family are in full swing on the hot asphalt by the mediterranean sea. François Jr & Elliott Bastien, young stuntmen aged 9 and 11, are growing up in this world of crumpled metal and adrenalin. Every night, when the mechanical monsters driven by their fathers arrive, the phrase "Do you want some more?" rings out.

Filmmaker's note

“MECHANICAL MONSTERS” is a free and experimental documentary short film shot in 2017 and completed in 2023, with the Bastien family - extreme stuntmen from father to son. Together, they organize "Grands Shows Mécaniques" in the summer, along the seaside in the south of France. We dive into the arena with François Junior & Elliott Bastien - both cousins - respectively 9 and 11 years old, young stuntmen growing up among mechanical monsters.
